Scan for Africa Branding

Challenge

Create a brand identity that communicates a human-health-focused non-profit brand bringing about equity and balance.

Scan for Africa is a healthcare-focused non-profit brand. The goal of this project was to create a visual identity that communicates a non-profit brand whose goal is to bring about equity and balance in the quality of healthcare accessible to Africans, particularly in ultrasound (POCUS). This is in a bid to position Scan for Africa as a non-profit that is enhancing the general well-being of Africans by expanding access to lifesaving ultrasound technology, with a focus on research, education, service, and philanthropy.

Project direction & approach.

As a human-centered non-profit brand focused on equitable and balanced access to ultrasound for Africans, elements representing equity, balance, ultrasound and colourful African geometric pattern prints were combined as the inspiration & direction for the branding.

concept

Logo concept
and direction.

The logo mark is inspired by the symbolisms of equity and balance. These concepts are visualised by the T-shaped symbol at the lower end of the mark.

This equity/balance symbol also forms the base of an arrangement of elements which depict balance. Almost as though balancing shapes on one another. Put together, however, this arrangement visually shows a human stick figure which connotes the non-profit and human-centered nature of the brand.

Overall, this communicates a non-profit brand that is human-centered with a core goal of bringing about an equity and balance in the quality of healthcare accessible to Africans, especially in the ultrasound technology.
